They say Leipzig has the most residents per square meter in Germany; can you believe it? In 2019 it was also listed as the 8th biggest city in the country.

Leipzig is located about 160 kilometres southwest of Berlin in the Leipzig Bay, which constitutes the southernmost part of the North German Plain, at the confluence of the White Elster River. The name of the city is of Slavic origin.

Leipzig has been a trade city since at least the time of the Holy Roman Empire. The city sits at the intersection of the Via Regia and the Via Imperii, two important medieval trade routes. Today Leipzig is a vibrating university city with almost 40000 students calling it their temporary home every year.
